Beauty and the Beasts Chapter 141
Curtis transformed into half-human. His gorgeous red hair draped over his shoulders and inadvertently swept all over Bai Qingqing’s arm, enveloping it with a chilling sensation.
Bai Qingqing couldn’t resist glancing up at Curtis, and her heart was a little upset watching his face that was more beautiful than a woman.
“What are you doing?” Curtis asked, curious about the strange-looking stones.
Unlike the previously made oil-pressing stone, this stone mill also have two parts, which were all round, with dense and fine lines on the surface.
Bai Qingqing went to the stones and was checking them at all sides. She was pleasantly surprised that they were almost done. She looked back at Curtis and clapped excitedly, “Parker has done it so fast. It looks ready to used."
Curtis tilted his head, his crimson-red eyes showing some unusual interest in her newest creation. Bai Qingqing couldn’t help looking at his rare expression.
Catching herself staring at him, Bai Qingqing jerked her gaze sideways, her cheeks tinge. “This is a stone mill. I want to grind rice into flour and make more delicious food.”
Bai Qingqing was so bored all day long, and being stifled at home made her come up with this idea to try and make more recipes. It took her a long time to work out the details of the stone mill. After she finished the draft in her mind, she asked Parker to start working on it today.
“Mmm.” Curtis nodded.
It seemed that both of them realized that their cold war ended after they spoke to each other.
Parker came back with a half pot of freshwater food. When Parker saw Curtis already made a fire, he grunted and proceeded to steam the fish and shrimp.
Bai Qingqing pressed against the huge stone for a long time. When she was unable to make it budge, Curtis came over to help her. He picked up the stone effortlessly and asked, “Where?"
“Just put it on top of the other stone and aim it at the hole in the middle before you lower it.”
With just a few instructions, Curtis successfully assembled the two massive stone parts. After the finishing touch where Bai Qingqing fixed the rod handle into the hole on the side of the first stone, the stone mill has now completed.
Bai Qingqing wanted to test it, so she poured a few grains in another hole of the second stone then tried to push the rod handle, yet the stone mill was too blunt. Bai Qingqing worked harder again, and it moved, but it was merely a millimeter.
She clenched her teeth and continued to exert herself. Just as she felt enormous strength coming out from her body, Curtis suddenly caught her hand.
Curtis glanced at Bai Qingqing and said coldly, “Have you forgotten what I’ve told you?”
Bai Qingqing was afraid of Curtis whenever he got angry, so she instantly suppressed her stubbornness and shut her mouth. As soon as Curtis held Bai Qingqing’s hand and gave a slight push, the stone mill promptly turned and made a squeaking sound.
Curtis sorely squeezed Bai Qingqing’s hands. She withdrew her hands, but couldn’t take it out from Curtis’s tight grip. She admitted in a sorrowful tone, “Fine. I won’t do it again.”
Curtis had a light smile in his eyes. Though he didn’t release Bai Qingqing’s hand, he loosened his hold to relieve the pressure and only used his fingers to push the handle.
Two people were tightly working on the stone mill, and their bodies were so close together.
Parker, who was tending to the fire, had happened to look in their way. When Parker watched the intimate moment between these two, his blood began to boil with jealousy. He was staring daggers at the two while kept adding wood to the fire until the stone pot was completely engulfed in flames.
‘Humph! This damn old snake! I will boil you and turn you into a snake hotpot!’
The stone mill turned more and more smoothly. Bai Qingqing became worried that such a light mill would damage the stone plate. She nudged Curtis with her back as a signal for him to stop.
“We should be able to use it now. Let’s wash the stones first and grind the rice after.” Bai Qingqing said.
Curtis cleaned the stone mill according to Bai Qingqing’s instructions and washed a whole tube of rice grains. The two people immediately began to work after the preparation.
Parker was still glaring at them and desperately adding more lumber to the fire.
Bai Qingqing was in charge of pouring the grains into the chasm, and Curtis was in charge of grinding.
After adding a few handfuls of rice, she also poured in a small amount of water. With the mill rotated a few times, white puree eventually flowed out of the interlayer.
